Jimi Hendrix Posters -
Jimi Hendrix was
born on November 27th, 1945 in Seattle
Washington. He was an inspirational and cultural
icon. Hendrix is lauded by music fans and
critics alike as the most influential and
talented electric guitarist in rock music
history.
Jimi Hendrix was a self-taught musician. He was
left handed but played a right handed Fender
Stratocaster guitar that he turned upside down
and restrung to suit his personal preference.
Jimi Hendrix first received worldwide fame in
1967 when he played in the Montery Pop festival,
then headlined the iconic 1969 Woodstock
Festival before his sudden death in 1970 at the
age of 27.
Hendrix was one of the first musicians to
combine blues, jazz and funk rhythms with high
pitched psychedelic sounds created by his guitar
improvisations. He would also integrate
instruments rarely used in rock such as the
harpsichord, glockenspiel and recorder. As a
record producer himself, Hendrix was an
innovator in using the recording studio as an
extension of his musical ideas: he was notable
one of the first to experiment with stereophonic
and phasing effects during recording processes.
